Program of Events | Friday, 30 October
Bruce Pascoe in Conversation with Grace Lucas-Pennington
Time: 11:00 am – 12:00 pm
Venue: The Old Stables, LOT 101
Aboriginal farmer and celebrated author Bruce Pascoe joins Bundjalung writer, editor, and mentor Grace Lucas-Pennington for an expansive conversation exploring Dark Emu, Big Sky, and his enduring body of work.
Reconsidering the colonial narratives long used to justify dispossession, Pascoe’s writing brings profound clarity to Australian history. Together, they will explore how contemporary science and philosophy—when anchored in First Nations wisdom and holistic land practices—offer vital pathways toward a shared and regenerative future.
Enjoy a two-hour midday interlude across the LOT 101 estate before our afternoon session.
The Book Showdown with Benjamin Law
Time: 2:00 pm – 3:00 pm
Venue: The Old Stables, LOT 101
As Leo Tolstoy famously observed, “All happy families are alike; each unhappy family is unhappy in its own way.” Fortunately for readers, literature’s most dysfunctional family dynamics provide endless opportunities to appall, move, and entertain.
Join beloved broadcaster and author Benjamin Law for a spirited F*cked Up Families edition of his acclaimed literary panel, The Book Showdown. Featuring award-winning novelists Mirandi Riwoe and Brooke Davis, this sharp, candid, and joyful debate pits unforgettable literary households against one another in an afternoon of brilliant discourse and laughter.
