LOT 101 is a working, regenerative farm before it is anything else. It supplies the estate’s kitchens, shapes the land guests walk through, and sets the pace the rest of the property follows. We invite you to see it for yourself.
The particulars
The Farm
At the heart of Lot 101 is a working farm, where everything grows with the seasons and the land is farmed regeneratively, following organic principles.
We plant our kitchen gardens season by season, choosing vegetables and herbs for flavour and harvesting them at their peak. As one season ends, beds are rested and replanted, so there’s always something new coming through for the kitchens of Megalong Restaurant and the Tea Rooms.
Our fruit orchard is tended year-round with careful pruning, natural pest management and nourishing mulch, while our own honey bees pollinate the blossoms across the orchard and gardens. Our olive grove produces our own olive oil.
Our livestock are rotationally grazed, moving across the paddocks to rest the pasture and build healthy soil, keeping the land in balance.
Each quarter, we plan the season ahead, choosing the heroes that will star on the plate. Then every week, our Executive Chef and Production team meet to decide which harvest items will inspire that week’s menu.
Whether you’re dining, staying or simply wandering the grounds, the farm is the story behind everything we do: real food, grown regeneratively and with respect for the land.
The same ground guests walk through supplies the kitchens directly — this morning’s harvest becomes tonight’s menu at Megalong and the daily fare at the Tea Rooms.
Join Megalong's Head Chef Colin Barker for a guided farm tour of Lot 101. You will learn about no-dig market gardening, berry and stone fruit growing, greenhouse production and much more. Includes a snack from our farm and a non-alcoholic cocktail made from signature Lot 101 ingredients.

Most of what there is to do here is on our own ground — the orchard rows, the paddock tracks, the cottages, the creek at the bottom of the hill.
