Werriberri cottages

Warm bread and blackberry jam in the hamper on the bench. Frost on the paddock outside, if you have come in winter, burning off by mid-morning. A wood fire that needs building before dinner, and the smell of eucalyptus on the walk down to the creek. There is no wifi, so the day fills up with whatever you decide to do with it.

Werriberri is six self-contained heritage cottages set in 600 acres of bushland on Darug and Gundungurra country, beneath the Blue Mountains escarpment. The name comes from the native tree ferns that frame the valley. Rooms are heritage, not hotel — timber, deep quiet, and windows that face the ridgeline.

Secluded, but not stranded. It is a short walk to the Tea Rooms for breakfast and lunch, seven days a week, and a two-minute drive to Megalong for weekend dining — a One Hat kitchen in the Sydney Morning Herald Good Food Guide for 2026, cooking the produce grown in the paddocks around you.

“Cabin was lovely and well provided for. Across the road from the Tea Rooms so we were able to get breakfast easily. Location is beautiful and quiet - walk over to the field in the early morning (or dusk) for some kangaroo sightings! Also, the grounds have some easy trails to walk along and one leads to a little waterfall!”
