Megalong Creek Estate Vineyard was established in 2002 as a family farming venture.
Megalong Creek Estate Vineyard was established in 2002 as a family farming venture. The grapes are grown on the property, then hand-picked and transported to Mudgee, where award-winning winemaker Jacob Stein (of Robert Steins wines) crafts the estate’s single vineyard wines. The lineup includes Viognier, Pinot Grigio, Pinot, and Shiraz, with newer plantings of Grenache and Mourvedre added in 2018. A lightly sparked Prosecco-style wine called Prozzante and a Late Harvest dessert wine round out the collection.
The current cellar door is housed in a repurposed shipping container and barn, featuring a purpose-built tasting bar and views across the valley floor. Alpacas graze in the foreground while the valley’s majestic sandstone escarpment rises behind. Early 2023 saw the beginning of a new purpose-built cellar door designed to accommodate wine tastings, group bookings, and events.
